Fortnite Battle Royale UPDATE: PUBG rival faces new legal battle
PUBG rival Fortnite is taking a major stand against cheaters.New reports
suggest that Fortnite publisher Epic is taking two cheaters to court
for violating the game’s terms of service and bypassing technological
measures. That’s according to TorrentFreak (via VG247), which claims the
players face paying upwards of $150,000 in statutory damages.
Problems include using aimbots to automatically target opposing players.Epic has addressed the problems in a new blog, which outlines how it is addressing the problem.
“Let’s be straight for a second, nobody likes playing with cheaters. Not you, not me. Nobody,” reads an Epic blog.
“We play PvP games like Fortnite Battle Royale for their competitive integrity. That feeling of outshooting somebody in an intense standoff and snagging that Victory Royale! And then there are cheaters, the 360-spin instant headshot, we all know so well.”
Honest players can also expect new rewards, which will roll out soon.
