Pokemon Go Update error: New forced patching and download issues hit app
Niantic are apparently in the middle
of pushing a forced Pokemon Go update, which is causing a few
issues.Players are finding that having updated the game, they are hit
with a message saying that they are “unable to continue” playing.“I last
updated October 5,” one fans wrote on Reddit.
“Was playing today and then all of a sudden it said I had to update.
In the app store, there is no “new version” of the game to download…
“When I log back in it keeps saying “you need to update”…”
It appears that this problem is hitting players who have updated the
game and some of those who are unable to find a patch to download.
“My mum has been trying to log in but
keeps getting error 4 telling her to update her game but she’s already
updated it,” another fan comment reads.“She’s restarted her phone and
still comes up. It comes up with a notification telling her to update,
press okay and takes her to app store to find it updated.“I don’t know
if this is a glitch with trying to force the update that I saw been
posted a few mins ago.”
The usual workarounds also don’t
seem to be useful, with players who have uninstalled and then
reinstalled the app, still unable to access the game.
There are reports that this might be a
problem caused by Niantic starting a forced update and then having
found a problem with it, stopped the rollout.
This could also mean that Niantic are planning to rollout something big, with recent rumours pointing to a big Gen 3 launch.
John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, recently revealed that a Gen 3 launch was
on the cards, telling the Taiwanese Business Weekly: “There is a lot of
Pokémon that have not yet been launched, so I think the next secret
weapon will be launch of the next Pokemon generation.
“I hope the players will soon see them.”
“We are planning to develop a new battle mode. I can say this is very
interesting for us, let’s see how it could be achieved in 2018.”
